Pintia Toro 2019

Pintia is a generous expression of Tempranillo grown in a hot, dry climate. Sourced from deceptively high vineyards (700m) with an average vine age of 35-40 years, Pintia continues to prove that high alcohol wines can also achieve balance. In 2019, it rained right before harvest which tamed the concentration of dark fruit flavors, and the winery states, the vintage was aboutInfusion, not extraction. In addition to the cooling rains, 15% of the wine was aged in large old barrels to help retain freshness. Still very powerful and very Pintia-esque (with 15% alcohol), the wine showcases everything we love about Tempranillo with sleek dark red fruits, purple flowers, spice cake, and toasty earth. In classic Vega Sicilia fashion, the tannins are long and exceptionally creamy, making this a very safe and good choice for enjoying now.
